Park History

 

Overview

 

In 2018, Walt Disney Imagineering devised an 7-year plan to bring a 5th theme park to Walt Disney World by 2025. The demand for a 5th theme park derived from oversaturation of the WDW Parks and Resort, and a need to expand after several major new additions including Pandora: The World of Avatar at Disney's Animal Kingdom in 2017, and Star Wars at Disney's Hollywood Studios in 2020.

 

The Imagineers on the project looked at the themes and designs of the four WDW parks, and Disney parks around the globe, to try and come up with a unique and innovative theme for the 5th gate, whilch has culminated in the proud presentation of Inventus. Taken from the Latin root, Inventus means discovery, or having been found, in Latin, and will usher in a new age of theme park experiences.

 

Walt Disney was always inspired by the mythical tales of folklore, which a lot of his feature length animated films are based on. Ancient tales passed down through oral tradition or other forms of communication, have been a lynchpin in our society since the dawn of man. It's how we express our thoughts, showcase our imagination, and unite everyone around a common narrative.

 

The 5th theme park at the Walt Disney World Resort was decided to be based on the myths and legends that have shaped centuries of literature, culture, and imagination. This park will embrace the mythical lands of story-telling, and legends of the past that have shaped the world we live in today.

The location was set to the east of the old Walt Disney World Speedway (site of the new Magic Kingdom expanded parking lot). Construction began on June 18, 2022 and the first phase of the theme park opened on June 18, 2025. First opening with the park were the mythical lands of The Bifrost, The Celtic Forest, Ancient Greece, and Ancient Africa. Phase 2 of the theme park was completed on July 1, 2029, with the addition of the mythical lands of The Far East and Mesoamerica.

 

With the year now 2030, Inventus has become a fully functioning theme park with a plethora of adventures to take and many more into the future.
